Issue three of DC’s Wonder Woman Black and Gold brings together another worldwide collection of creatives.
Writers Aimee Garcia, Paula Sevenbergen, Robert Venditti, Nnedi Okorafor, and Janet Harvey work with artists Sebastian Fiumara, Inake Miranda, Steve Epting, Jack T. Cole, and Megan Levens.
Covers and variants are by Jae Lee and June Chung, Joshua Middleton, and Janaina Medeiros.
All in all, the five stories are short scenarios that each feature Wonder Woman, of course, regarding a decision-making moment. Or WW is reminiscing or comparing life in modern-day US versus her Amazon island world of Themyscira.
The emphasis overall is to demonstrate Wonder Woman’s bravery, compassion, and her caring for our physical environment.
Several stories make clever use of the gold (the interior of the book is in two colours: black and ‘gold’, instead of realistic full colour), in particular, Do No Harm, written by NNedi Okorafor and illustrated and coloured by Jack T. Cole.
Also visually strong is The Stolen Lasso of Truth, written by Aimee Garcia and illustrated and coloured by Sebastian Fiumara.
