From DC Comics, Wonder Woman Black and Gold #6 continues to showcase strong stories of the Amazon woman’s challenges and victories.
Of special note in the current issue is a story written and illustrated by French/Canadian creator Marguerite Sauvage. Sauvage’s story illuminates the struggle of modern women for their voices to be heard and celebrates the accomplishments of one noteworthy leader. Sauvage’s open visual style is well suited to the story; panel flow, body language, and page layout are superb.
Liam Sharp’s short story is likewise memorable. Sharp gives us a fictional-autobiographical tale of dreams, foreshadowing, and mystery. The drawings are spooky and foggy, with plenty of midtone suspense drifting in and out of our vision.
Wonder Woman Black and Gold, an ongoing anthology of short stories, tends to be focused on character growth, reconciliation, and tolerance. Which is a worthy theme for any comic!
