The multiverse is in danger and only Doctor Strange can fix it

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Doctor Strange is drawn into protecting America Chavez, a girl who has the ability to travel the multiverse, from a new and powerful adversary. Strange’s is pushed to the limits and can he save the multiverse.

Sorry for the short description, but this is the type of film when they say no spoilers, they mean it. Trust me, I would love to say so much about it but I really do not want to give anything away. OK, maybe one spoiler, since this is a Sam Raimi film,  Bruce Campbell does make an appearance!

Raimi takes the reign of the Doctor Strange franchise and this is a good choice. The film has elements of actions, super-heroes, comedy, and horror. And this film is pure classic Raimi. From the silly comedy to some of this trademark filmmaking like the close-up. A lot of this film was definitely reminiscent of the Evil Dead trilogy. The horror element Raimi brings to the film is a really nice touch. But be warned, I saw this film with my 9-year-old and there were a lot of times he was scared. This film is rated PG-13 for a reason, so please use your best judgment if you decide to bring your kids. As an adult and a fan of Raimi, this didn’t bother me at all.

The script from Michael Waldron is a solid one. It moves at a great pace. It knows when to take a beat so the audience can take a breath. Plus the dialogue is really top-notch.

The cast does an amazing job. Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Power of the Dog,” “The Imitation Game”), Chiwetel Ejiofor (“Infinite,” “Locked Down”), Elizabeth Olsen (Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision,” “Avengers: Endgame”), Benedict Wong (“Deadly Class,” “Gemini Man”), Xochitl Gomez (“The Baby-Sitters Club,” “Roped”), Sheila Atim (“Bruised,” “The Underground Railroad”), Adam Hugill (“The Watch,” “1917”), with Michael Stühlbarg (“A Serious Man,” “Call Me by Your Name”), and Rachel McAdams (“Midnight in Paris,” “Sherlock Holmes”). This cast is great and works well together.

There are a lot of Easter eggs and a lot of surprises in this film. It really makes you wonder what is going to happen next. This is an exciting, fun, and scary film

As always, this is a Marvel film,  so remember to sit all the way through the credits. This one is definitely worth it.

Bottom line, Raimi really does bring a horror element to the MCU, but it really works here. I truly enjoyed it, but as I stated before, use your best judgment if you want to bring younger kids.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens everywhere on Friday, May 6th.
