Image Comics is pleased to reveal an early look at Fishflies #2 ahead of its October release. Interior pages from Jeff Lemire’s the extra-special, extra-length Fishflies #2 give fans a sneak peek into this upcoming installment in the six issue miniseries full of small-town surrealist horror.

In this new chapter, Franny Fox continues to assist the strange fugitive after his wild metamorphosis. Meanwhile, elsewhere in Belle River, the residents of the town continue to search for the perpetrator that shot young Paul DuPuis.

“I’m so proud of Fishflies and want every extra-length issue to be perfect,” said Lemire. “With that in mind, issue #2 is going to be delayed due to an unfortunate production error. But the delay won’t effect the rest of the schedule. Issue #3 will be out soon after In November as planned. Thanks for the support!”

Select praise for Fishflies:

“Equal parts Tales from the Crypt and Stand By MeFishflies #1 layers young tragedy and gruesome body horror to incredible effect.” —AIPT

“Everything about the book from its sketch-like artwork to its usage of watercolors to its usage of onomatopoeias give a visceral sense of uneasiness. But even when it gets mildly grotesque it never discourages the reader to keep going…you’ll likely fly right through it. It’s a bizarre book but unquestionably memorable.” —ComicBook.com

“It’s not really a surprise when Jeff Lemire creates another great story—but it is refreshing. This time, he writes and draws the story of a young girl who shows kindness to a wanted man. It’s vintage Lemire—and that is a very good thing for readers.” —Comicon.com

“A great slow burn of a comic that keeps readers guessing.” —Major Spoilers
