The hot new Summer read, Falling in Love on the Path to Hell by Gerry Duggan (Deadpool, X-Men) and Garry Brown (Babyteeth), has sold out completely at the distributor level yet again. Image Comics will fast-track a reprint of the debut issue, with a new cover, in order to keep up with escalating demand.

“I’m grateful to everyone on the Falling [in Love on the Path to Hell] team, and to all the folks hustling for us at Image,” said Duggan. “We’re all thrilled that the retailers and fans have turned out in droves for our debut. Turning on the printer three times for our debut before you get to enjoy the second is I think our second issue is better than our first, and three is better than two, and the back end of our first arc is going to give readers whiplash. Bring a neck brace, and thanks for joining Asami and MacRaith on this path. I want this to be the first omnibus on your shelves with my name on it that I co-own with my collaborators. Thanks, again.”

Brown added: “There’s nothing better than making art that we own outright at Image Comics. It’s a privilege to have the Image ‘i’ on our covers, and this is a book that we could only publish here.”

The sun set on samurai and gunslingers at roughly the same time in the 1870s—but Falling in Love on the Path to Hell’s two leads didn’t die off quietly. In Japan, Asami, an Onna-musha warrior and female samurai, would rather die with her weapons than surrender them to a sword hunt. In California, the gunslinger MacRaith follows his revenge to the bitter end and pays the ultimate price.

The unlikely pair are mortally wounded a world apart, but awake together in a purgatory ruled by a ruthless, nightmarish society of damned warriors.

First announced with an exclusive ashcan giveaway to retailers at Emerald City Comic Con and an exclusive scoop on the announcement at Popverse, this gunslinging tale of love and revenge showcases a massive extra-length story that drops readers straight into the action.
