East Coast Comicon knocks it out of the park for the second year in a row.

This past weekend, East Coast Comicon was held over at Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, NJ. This was their second time in Secaucus and it was a great time.

East Coast Comicon originally was Asbury Park Comicon, and for me, that was a schlep. So in 2015, when I heard that they moved the con to Secaucus, I was overjoyed because it’s pretty much my backyard. Last year was so much fun and this year was no exception.

The organizers really know what they are doing. The Meadowland Expo Center is a great space for a con. There was plenty of room without people tripping over each other. And for the most part, the con focused on the comics, not the other media so much.

Guests included Cliff Chaing, Neal Adams, Simon Bisley, Mark Waid,  Jose Luis García-López, Amy Reeder, Denis Kitchen, Franco, Mike Zeck, and so many more great comic creators. Media guests included Sam Jones (Flash Gordon) and Nichelle Nichols (Uhura on Star Trek). They are all very gracious towards their fans and very approachable.

There were panels on pitching comics, to a retrospect on Harvey Kutzman, and a look back at Charlton Comics. Plus there was an entire section just dedicated to kids.

There were also 3 different Batmoblies, the Batman’66 Batcycle, Monkeemobile, and the Munster Koach.

And then there vendors. Boy where there vendors. I think I easily blew about $150 there. Of course not of it for me. All for my kid, but still, such a large and diverse selection.

I’m so glad to have a con like the East Coast Comicon so close to me. My son and I both had a great time and can’t wait for next year.
