In-Store Convention Kick-Off Renamed COAST TO COAST COMIC CON; to be Filmed LIVE from Emerald City Comicon
This past year’s pop-culture convention season kicked off in style at comic shops with an innovative event in March that featured a full day of live streaming interviews, announcements and Q&A panels from your favorite comic book creators and publishers.
Now the event returns bigger and better for 2017—and with a new name— COAST TO COAST COMIC CON, scheduled for participating comic book shops across the country on Saturday, March 4th, 2017.
Promoters of the event, In Store Convention Kickoff (ISCKO), announced that they’ll be partnering once again with Diamond Comic Distributors for promotion and store support of the event, as well as working with pop-culture show organizers, ReedPOP. COAST TO COAST COMIC CON will be broadcasting live on location at one of ReedPOP’s premier shows, Emerald City Comicon in Seattle.
“We’re excited about our partnership with ReedPOP and the ability to broadcast live from Emerald City,” said ISCKO CEO, Phil Boyle. “As retailers know, a convention brings a lot of excitement to the community and we’re bringing some of that excitement into stores for a day-long event of announcements and panels.”
“We’re delighted to be involved in such a groundbreaking, in-store event,” said Diamond President & CEO Steve Geppi. “This should be a great way for comic shops to capture the excitement of upcoming releases from publishers.”
Exciting changes have been made from last year’s presentation, with the opportunity for more guests and some never-attempted live events in the works. Full details of the event, as well as news regarding participating publishers and talent, will be revealed in early 2017 and as the March 4th date approaches.
Last year’s event featured eight-hours of broadcasting, appearing exclusively in more than 400 participating stores in 9 countries and on 5 continents, with featured presentations from DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, IDW, Valiant, Dynamite, Boom! Studios, Diamond Select, and Zenescope and appearances by TMNT co-creator, Kevin Eastman, DC Comics co-publishers Jim Lee and Dan Didio, as well as Civil War II writer Brian Michael Bendis and power couple Kelly Sue DeConnick and Matt Fraction.
