I know this may not be the most popular opinion but I kinda like Aquaman, haven’t read loads of his stories but he seems to be decent, and this comic reinforces that notion.
It’s an older wiser Arthur whom the Justice League come to visit to celebrate his son coming of age but as is the way the festivities are cut short as an attack occurs. The action flows thick and fast as the Justice League join the fray and the fight scenes are incredible but they are not the real focus, Arthur is learning that there are things being kept from him, important things.
Batman makes a grand entrance to help save the day and does the job as I think Arthur trusts him and Batman helps him think through the events and see clearly. There are a few really good twists in this annual nothing really groundbreaking storywise but really well executed and keeps the interest peaked throughout.
The closing scenes are pretty powerful and show the strength Arthur has to not break down. And obviously showcases Batman’s skills as a detective (why was he even there in the first place) and as a badass whos not afraid to go above and beyond to help a friend.
