The BOOM! Studios Planet Of The Apes Artist Tribute is a no-brainer: just collect the cover paintings and other illustrations of the Planet Of The Apes (POTA) magazines and comics and print them in one hardcover volume!

This collection has some nice high points, and we can all grasp the beauty of them: a gorgeous front cover by Alex Ross, followed by full-page paintings from the 1970s by Bob Larkin, Gray Morrow, and Earl Norem. It’s great to see these paintings without the ‘trade dress’, that is, the logo, text and price information.

And that’s not all: there is plenty of newer work by Michael Allred, Mitch Gerads, Mikhail Borulko, Paolo Rivera and many more. Swing on by and leaf through a copy!

BOOM, Planet Of The Apes Artist Tribute, Hardcover, $24.99 for 116 pages. Not rated

About Alan Spinney

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
