Disney Comics and Stories #5 is a Giant issue from IDW, coming in at 48 pages!

With the extra length, we receive three excellent stories, making their first appearance in US;

First off is “Thirsty Monsters”, written by Andrea Castellan, illustrated by Andrea Ferraris. This one has the gift of exaggeration down to a “T”. This story about a town water shortage has the wackiest drawings: beautifully angularly tilted buildings, people tipping around in eccentric fashion. Plus truly enjoyable dialogue and plotting!

“Pluto and the “Super” Day”, with writing and art by Marco Gervasio, has a similar, wonderful exaggerated feel. Everything is bigger than life; every moment has been chosen for illustration, every aspect of this story is carefully crafted to entertain us.

Last, “Shhh!”, written by Tito Faraci, with art by Alessio Coppola, brings a couple of sneaky thieves into the spotlight. Not all break and enters proceed according to plan, to be sure. Another nice tale, significant for its exceptionally well done ‘almost silent’ dialogue. This is comic storytelling at its best!

A shout out to Erin Brady for excellent translation. All three tales have been seamlessly brought over from Italian to English language. Who knew?

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
