Get ready for chillin’ superhero action in Marvel Action Chillers #1 from IDW!

Issue 1 is a true team effort, and not just the superheroes. Writer Jeremy Whitley works with Seth Smith, Gretel Lusky, Derek Charm, and Nahuel Ruiz on interior visuals, with covers by Gretel Lusky and Sweeney Boo. That’s a lot of art people, people!! Go team go!!

Riri Williams, AKA Ironheart, has arrived at the Tony Stark headquarters, and is surprised to see bedlam, along with a stranger: Dr. Strange! It seems the book of Shuma-Gorath has left them a ‘horror story’. And so we go, battling evil and uncovering (a book joke there, lol) the secrets of the past.

It’s big panels, simplified surroundings, and big fun, as Dr. Strange and Ironheart try to get to the heart of the wreck and ruin of Tony’s lab.

The drawings are well shaped and the dialogue well scripted to appeal to younger readers. It’s not too deep or dark, and an enjoyably chilly journey!

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
