The final issue in this arc of Geiger is here. It’s Geiger #6 from Image.

And this is a really strong issue; it ties up loose ends, has plenty of gripping drama and pyrotechnics too.
Geoff Johns delves into the backstory of the King of Vegas this time. And Henry’s enjoying ice cream in captivity. Until all hell breaks loose.

But let’s not get caught up in what transpires in issue 6, let’s just browse through the strong points. Johns’ story is full of life and death drama, and Gary Frank’s amazing art brings the story to a surreal, kind of real visual level. Brad Anderson imbues the atmospheres with light sources that complement Frank’s line work. (Letters by Rob Leigh) The end result is a strangely believable, yet still unbelievable series of graphic images. Splash pages intermingled with tiny panels. But it works: full of spooky scenes that seem to echo Wally Wood or Richard Corben in style.

It’s a wonderfully weird story, with plenty of character development.

Coming soon from the same creators are: a special 80 page Geiger Giant issue, and more about Junkyard Joe, the robot.

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
