Steelrose and Cobrasun have reached the final stages of their journey as they are one step closer to resurrecting Lona’s mother. The only person standing in the way of accomplishing this, is GOD! Will Lona and her father succeed? It all comes to a close in this finale!
Steelrose (Lona) and her Cobrasun has faced every opponent, and now that they’ve finally made it to the final boss, you’d wonder, how far can Johnson take it with the humor and action? The answer, he takes it off the cliff and rockets to the stars. The emotional payoff as Lona and her father learn to coordinate as a team to take on the wrestler, God, is exciting, furious, and adrenaline-fueling. There’s tension displayed on each page, and even with the humor sprinkled in parts, it doesn’t alleviate the conflict that occurs as Lona fights for her life. And while it may be a bone-crushing, action-packed, Sci-Fi, fantasy, wrestling book, the emotional character beats are balanced with fun visuals that makes this book continue to stand out on the racks compared to all others.
Johnson has displayed in the previous issues his ability to illustrate chaotically genius line work and page layouts that sell the fast-paced, and grand spectacle of this series. But this issue is on full display. Johnson along with colorist Mike Spicer and Letterer Rus Wooton deliver a satisfyingly, body-slamming conclusion to this series, that is a breath of fresh air for anyone that enjoys comics, and wrestling alike. Whether you’re a wrestling fan or not, following Lona’s story is one that anyone can gravitate to and enjoy. You might end up shedding a tear or two by the end of it. I highly recommend picking this whole series up and adding it to your pull list for new comic book day.
