The first photos have been revealed today of BBC AMERICA’s Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond, which takes a no holds barred look at Ian Fleming, the man behind the James Bond legend whose real life was as exciting, eventful and sexually charged as his famous creation. Film star, Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Devil’s Double) will portray Fleming – a charming, sophisticated maverick whose dilettanti, pleasure seeking life was turned around by WWII and led to the creation of the best known spy the world has ever known. Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond premieres winter 2014 on BBC AMERICA.

Directed by Mat Whitecross (The Road to Guantanamo) and written by John Brownlow (Sylvia) and Don MacPherson (Entrapment), the new original four part drama from Ecosse Films is a BBC AMERICA and Sky Atlantic co-production, distributed by BBC Worldwide.

TMWWBB_day-11_1765Set against the permissive society of war-torn London, where champagne (and martinis) were always flowing and beds were always being swapped, Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond explores the early life of the charming, enigmatic creator of 007. The cast includes Lara Pulver (True Blood, Sherlock), Annabelle Wallis (Hello Carter, The Tudors), Lesley Manville (Maleficent, Another Year), Anna Chancellor (The Hour, How I Live Now) and Samuel West (Mr Selfridge, Hyde Park on Hudson).

Huw Kennair-Jones is Executive Producer for Sky, Ecosse Films’ Douglas Rae, Michael Parke and Robert Bernstein also Executive Produce.
