Series one of the line is available at Toys R Us and other specialty shops, and they differ only by name to the SDCC versions. Included in this set are KA AKA Kick Ass, Hit-Girl, and The M’Fer AKA well by now if you don’t know then you shouldn’t.
Kick Ass himself is dressed in his bright green wetsuit with his signature batons. The figure introduces a more buffed up version of the character from the new film. Neca makes their mark with going all out in design, and articulation. Better articulation equals more fun, and this figure has some great articulation. This figure has the ability to throw a nice booted round house to the side of any bad guys head because of a good range of motion. Kick Ass also comes with two sets of hands; one set is closed fist, the other open to hold his set of batons. A nice design, with great attention to detail.
Moving on to Hit-Girl the figure is quite impressive. Loaded with weaponry including 6 throwing knives that fit nicely in the pouches attached on her legs, a double sword bo staff that comes apart, and a pair of guns. Also included is another set of hands made for holding the guns. Her cape made of cloth, her outfit movie ready and her arsenal made for some fun. Every inch of this figure screams Hit-Girl and she’s ready to battle.
Finally we come to our resident bad guy, “Wait till they get a load of me”, the M’fer . At first glance it is not hard notice that someone is into bondage, but looking over the figure the detail work is impressive. It might be off putting to parents in the toy aisle, but from a collector prospective you can see how much work went into a figure who looks like he should be in a basement somewhere. Included is again a soft goods cloth cape, but what makes this figure unique are the feathers attached on the shoulders. This figure does not fair as well as the first two in the accessories department. Although we lack a second set of hands that were included with the other characters they made up for it with the 9mm pistols. There is also a chain attached on the belt is, and in fact real that can move freely.
Over all, I was quite impressed with this line, and cannot wait for series two to hit the shelves, which will include Sgt. Stars and Stripes. Every detail, and accessory included in the packaging never left me feeling like I was missing something. If you’re a Kick Ass fan, or just a fan of NECA products these are a must have. You will be able to find these at Toys R Us in the PG version packaging. if you can get your hands on either set get them you’ll have hours of fun posing these guys in all kinds of action positions.
Until next time toy fans.
