Man, oh man! What a tough flippin month for Previews picking! I don’t mind telling you that it’s been a long time since I’ve gone through a Previews and had so much to choose from. So much so, I decided to throw the 5(ish) format out the window, roll the dice and pick as many as I please. Cause that’s just how I am.
Without further ado…
Harley Quinn #2 – DC Comics. Oh. Harley. Harley, Harley, Harley. I know that the first issue hasn’t even come out yet. So, how can I be so excited about this book? Two words: Amanda Conner’s Cover. I know you’re not “supposed” to judge a book by it’s cover, and I’m totally sure that DC learned it’s lesson after that atrocious debacle of the Joker’s Daughter. So, there’s no reason not to be excited about this book. Right? Right!
All Star Western #27 –DC Comics. I haven’t read an issue of All Star Western, in well…ever?!?!? But, my interest is definitely piqued what with the Man of Steel floating on the cover and all. As I’ve said many, many times. Marketing works on me. And if you’re gonna put Superman on the cover of another book, I’m probably gonna buy it. I know. I know. Shame on me for falling for it. Again. And again. And again. This time, though. This time I’m positive this cross-over will be awesome!
DC Comics Super villains: Deathstorm and Bizarro: DC Collectibles. I swear to all that’s holy, DC Collectibles is running on all 11 cylinders any more. They are totally blowing everyone and everything else out of the water these days, with their awesomeawesomeawesome figures. It’s just a shame Marvel doesn’t have some sort of in-house figure producing arm of their company. I’d probably never buy another figure again from Hasbro or Mattel if they did.
Zero #5 – Image Comics. Interesting solict. Once again, your friendly neighborhood jman’s judging a book by it’s cover. I walk a dangerous path. You should not follow.
Inhuman #1 – Marvel Comics. Matt Fraction. Joe Mad. What else do I need to say? They could work on a book about Caillou and I’d buy that. And I HATE Caillou!
Black Widow #1 – Marvel Comics. Big fan of Phil Noto’s work. Yet another no brainer!
Thunderbolts #20 – Marvel Comics. Just like All Star Western, Thunderbolts is a book I’ve never read. But, here again is an example of me judging a book by it’s cover. If the artwork is the same in the book as on the cover? I’m in for the duration!
Empire of the Dead #1 – Marvel Comics. The godfather of zombiehood, George Romero involved with a comic book? I’m in. Yeayeayea. I’m sick of the whole zombie thing. Who isn’t? Apparently, everyone but me. Still…I want to at least see what this first issue is like.
Disney Kingdoms: Seekers of the Weird #1 – Marvel Comics. I’ll tell you what…this book looks like a lot of fun. Little known fact bout your friendly neighborhood jman. Love Disney. Love Disney World. Not as much as I used to, cause I’m old and jaded. Still…love is love. And I’m looking forward to reading this book.
Superior Spider-man #25 – Marvel Comics. Seriously. What kind of Venom is that?!?!?
Knight Rider K.A.R.R. – Diamond Select. Knight Rider. Yea. Great show. And K.A.R.R.? Bad ass. I’m not sure what happened at Knight Industries, that they produced such an evil car, but whatever. They did. See what happens when you don’t test a Beta properly?!?!?
Death Sentence #6 – Titan Comics. I don’t know how I stumbled onto this book. But, it’s good, twisted stuff. This is the last issue, so I’m looking forward to see where this thing goes.
God! I really hate when good books have short runs.
Bat-zombie shirt – Graphitti Designs. I know what I just said about zombies. But, what do you want from me?!?!? It’s a cool freaking shirt!
Mr. Potato Head: Homer Simpson figure – Hasbro. I can’t remember the last time I bought any Simpsons merch. Probably the first line or two of Playmates Simpsons figures, way back when. But, with this Potato head, I’ll be ending my “no buying of Simpsons merch” streak.
Lady Death La Muerte statue – The CS Moore Studio. I remember Lady Death back in the day. I even own (still) a Moore action figure of her (still!). I gotta tell you something, though, I really don’t know what’s going on with her. Or even who publishes her, anymore. But, this? This is a very cool statue. I will find a way to buy this statue. Mark my words. You will be reading a patented “Discussion” in thenearish future.
I was worried for a moment that I wouldn’t be able find a WTF product. But, thanks to A Crowded Coop, I don’t have to worry any more. I present to you…Star Trek: The original series Pet Product collection. Cause you need you’re lil weiner dressed up as Spock!
What’s up with your friendly neighborhood jman’s almost internet famous internet show? I’m glad you asked…
