Event Review: 17 Minutes Of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” (Disney)

On Tuesday July 7th, Disney and Marvel Studios had a nationwide screening of 17 minutes of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”. The screening was presented in IMAX and 3D. And let me say, I can not wait until when the film comes on August 1st.

It opened with a message from director Jim Gunn on how this footage was remastered in IMAX format. And of course thanking us for coming.

The footage started with the same line-up scene we’ve seen in the teaser trailer, but uncensored. So we got to see Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) flip off the Xandarian Nova Corps. Not fuzzed out this time, and yet still funny. But it goes into further details about each of the characters. Some of it true to the comics and some adapted for the screen.

We then see the Guardian led to a prison and from there, they make their escape. It was an awesome scene. It really gave you a feel of the characters.

After the scene was over, it seemed to be an extended trailer, for lack of a better word. But it showed some stuff we haven’t seen yet.

The best part about this teaser is you finally got to hear Bradley Cooper as Rocket and Vin Diesel as Groot. Let me tell you, it was awesome casting. Especially Diesel repeating “I am Groot.” And the overall casting was great. At least what we saw so far.

I think this was a smart idea from the studio. It’s a great way to get the hype started.

So like I said before, I can’t wait to see the “Guardians of the Galaxy” in it’s entirety.

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” opens nationwide on August 1st.
