John Constantine is never one to take the easy path and when the path gets hard he always has a smart remark to make it harder.
This issue begins with Chas and Constantine tied to chairs by right wing racist White Boy but when you are expecting Djinn, skinheads are nothing to worry about. John couldn’t be less worried and spends the time winding White Boy up and sending his goons on a wild goose chase to buy time for the Djinn to turn up and boy do they like to make an entrance!!
While Constantine is occupied with the skinheads Swamp Thing is fighting for his life in the Rot while Mercury looks for any trace of Abby. The Rot abhors anything living and automatically tries to attack it and with Abby no longer there Swamp Thing doesn’t have protection anymore!
I think Constantine is a brilliant character, the way he riles up Whiteboy is hilarious with poor Chas knowing exactly when he is away to go too far but having to be dragged along with him anyway. The Djinn are a scary bunch to Aladdin would have been a totally different movie had one of these buggers shot out the lamp!!
One of my favourites parts is how Swamp Thing is most definitely NOT stalking Abby hahaha
