Diamond Selects presents a Mego version of the man who’s the best at what he does.

When Wolverine’s popularity really hit, Mego no longer existed as a company. So we never got a chance to get a figure based on him. That is, until now

Like all the sets from Diamond Select, it comes with one figure, three outfits, three heads, multiple hands, and various other accessories. The outfits are what an original Mego would have looked like, one that’s updated with today’s material, and a secret identity.

First up is the original Wolverine. It comes in a repro packaging that looks amazing again.

The figure isn’t a bad figure. The mask seems a little too big for his head, but when you figure this was supposed to be when Mego first came out, it makes sense. Just look at the Mego Batman with the removable mask. It’s about the same. The gloves have rubber claws on them. But when you remove the glove, the figure has no hands. Just too stumps. I don’t understand why there wasn’t an extra pair of hand to go with it. Other than that, it’s a good look.

The modern costume is what I was extremely disappointed with. Diamond decided to with go with Wolverine’s 2nd costume, which is brown and tan. The costume we got is brown and orange. And I don’t mean a subtle orange, I’m talking pumpkin orange. It really bummed me out. The color is just all wrong. He also comes with 2 sets of hands. One a closed fist and the other is open hands. The claws are also a harder plastic.

Now this is the saving grace for this figure. The civilian outfit. Now, if you’re familiar with Wolverine in comics at all, he probably spends a lot of time out of his costume as he does in it. The civilian clothes consist of jeans, boots, a leather jacket, and a sleeveless white t-shirt, which is kind of iconic on Wolverine. This will be the outfit I’m keeping him in. There’s lots of detail in the face too. The look of an old warrior. Really does justice here.

The set again comes with a booklet that talks about the history of  Wolverine action figures and other Wolverine facts.

Again, another amazing set from Diamond Select and EMCE, but definitely not the best of the line.
