Comic Review: Animal Noir #1 (IDW)

A giraffe P.I and a case involving missing hunt porn tapes, what more do you need to know!

I must admit I was a little weirded out by this for a start I mean monkeys driving a truck while a cheetah waits with more monkeys who are stoned and winding him up by calling him little lion, but its a really good read. The monkeys are hilarious riling the cheetah up and all the little animal jokes are brilliant (a giraffe having high tastes etc)

It really is a classic noir story it just happens to have a porn distributing family of hippos as characters. Manny the giraffe really suits the part of a P.I and you really feel for his uncle’s wife who as a naive youth starred in the hunt tapes in question.

Brilliantly drawn and coloured you can easily forget the absurdity and just sit back and enjoy a good detective story, I just hope Manny gets his man.
