Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live on a film set? Misfit City explores what happens when your town was the setting of one of the biggest films of the 80’s

First off I would totally be a ‘Gloomer’ hopefully not as rude as the fans in this issue but yeah sign me up for a tour. The writers make no copper bones about the fact that this is based around the Goonies and other adventure films but it’s not just a comic version of the film but more of an homage to them.

The girls live in the town used for the film ‘The Gloomies’ and have to put up with tourists showing up just to visit the film’s landmarks and while annoying they also pay their bills so they may as well accommodate them. The girls, however, end up with the chance for their own adventure as during their regular poker game they uncover a hidden treasure map in an old chest donated to the museum where Macy works. Unlike the movies, the gang doesn’t jump with joy and head off to discover its secrets instead they think they are a little too old for chasing made up treasure.

Things change when it becomes clear that the map may be genuine and that other people want to find it for themselves and aren’t afraid to hurt people to get to it. What will happen when they find out that the girls still have the map?

A pretty cool first issue with a perfect blend of the essence of the Goonies with something different and new
