In conjunction with the current exhibition Will Eisner The Centennial Celebration 1917-2017, co-curated by Denis Kitchen and John Lind, the Society of Illustrators is proud to present a special panel discussion on Eisner’s legacy.

Panelists include Paul Levitz (former president and publisher of DC Comics and author of Will Eisner: Champion of the Graphic Novel), Vivek Tiwary (Tony Award-winning Broadway producer and author of the Eisner Award-winning The Fifth Beatle), Charles Kochman (executive editor of Abrams ComicArts and editor of the bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series), and John Lind (co-curator of Will Eisner The Centennial Celebration 1917-2017 and creative director of the Kitchen Sink Books imprint at Dark Horse Comics). The panel will be moderated by Heidi MacDonald (editor-in-chief of The Beat at www.comicsbeat.com).

Will Eisner The Centennial Celebration 1917-2017 exhibition at the Society of Illustrators is on display from March 1 through June 3, 2017.This two-floor retrospective, curated by Denis Kitchen and John Lind, includes more than 150 pieces of original art, such as work from Smash Comics (1939); key sequences from his graphic novels including A Contract with God (1978), Life on Another Planet (1983), A Life Force (1988), and To the Heart of the Storm (1991); and over 40 pages of original artwork from The Spirit (1940-1952) newspaper section. Also included are personal items from Eisner’s career, like his studio drawing board, brushes, and awards.
