The Quantum Age (from the world of Black Hammer) #2, from Dark Horse, continues to fill in the story for us.

Writer Jeff Lemire and Artist WIlfredo Torres (color again by Dave Stewart), give us more detail about the new world. The Martian’s past is chronicled, as he converses with the former members of the Quantum League. There are shocking revelations of mass murder but alternated with some lighter moments.

It’s a nice balance, wrapped by Lemire into a well-paced SciFi drama. And interestingly enough, it feels retro. Like a combination of an old 60’s TV show western, and an old 60’s TV show science fiction series, blended together. Just add a dash of 60’s Legion of SuperHeroes, and you have it!

Thoroughly enjoyable, well illustrated. New twists on old recipes, creating a whole new world of flavour!

Dark Horse, The Quantum Age #2, $3.99 for 24 pages of content, Not rated, possibly Teen

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
