Dark Horse Comics releases a Japanese manga based on a light novel and a long-running Fate franchise in Fate/Zero on its eighth volume.

Now I’m going, to be honest with you, I’ve never ever read the Fate manga series before, but this graphic novel is a continuation of Fate/Stay Night series that took place ten years prior to the events of the first Fate series. The original story of the light novel was written by Gen Urobuchi who is famous for writing light stories such as Madoka Magica, Pyscho-Pass and Fate/Zero. Which is essentially competitive to other light novel authors like Tsukasa Fushimi who wrote Oreimo and Eromanga Sensei, aka some BS little sister stories, or some other author who wrote Sword Art Online, I can’t remember the name of the writer though, but there are light novels of Sword Art Online.

Ok, back to this manga, I got to say, some artists had collaborated with the light novel author, the publisher decided to turn his story into a graphic novel. Why? Because some other people are obsessed with watching the anime, they just want to see more in a manga version. The manga is actually drawn by Shinjiro, right to believe that he uses his pen name like in the social media, well I guess a lot of illustrators are like that right now. Oh and that’s right, do you know that Gen actually wrote this story for his inspiration after watching the 2004 movie Spider-Man 2? That would mean that you’ll get to see a battle that is somewhat similar to the movie that he watched.

I never got to know the story, but I’ll have little detail, this volume focuses a shot of battles between warriors and monsters. But so far, it seemed that everyone has been involved in a war which it forces everyone to fight till the end. Same kind of story, and it gives an action, fantasy, Sci-Fi and horror genre. Some say that it has an interesting plot of the anime, and some say that the manga/anime is epic because of the story, and I don’t know the animation is strong, and some of the characters like to keep up with hope.

So let’s talk about the characters, let’s start with Kiritsugu Emiya, he’s actually a magician, master of Saber, actually has a backstory of his family, and almost seemed that he’s a father to Saber, I guess. Next is his student, Saber, Saber is bae, she’s probably the strong waifu type material. Even for that, she’s the She-King Arthur who wields the Sword in the Stone, Excalibur. But surprisingly that King Arthur is actually a young woman, now I’m stunned about it. And then there’s the King of Heroes and his servant, Crimson God. Gilgamesh though, what’s his deal? Does he actually takes servants after winning a war, I mean I know that he’s Gilgamesh in the story, but he doesn’t look like one, where is Endiku by any chance? Not a fan of the Crimson God, he’s like a butler for using a life hack skills as a magician and an assassin. Also, he’s like a drama queen between him and his wife because his marriage never changed him and tries to kill himself. Then there’s the supporting character, Rider the King of Conquerors, aka big and proud like a lion. I do get that his skills rival with Saber but how does this come to the point to defeat her in order to claim as the strongest warrior alive. How about Lancer, he’s like the cousin of the Kain the Dragoon from Final Fantasy IV, because as a knight, he swore loyalty to his master just to fight in order to end the war, but at the time when he fights alongside with Saber, Lancer broke his spear just to have his strength into her, and Saber actually can summon the Excalibur once again, and then battles against Saber afterward. And Caster, the antagonist of the story which it makes it so evil, he terrorizes and murdered so many innocent children for his pleasure, that is actually chaotic to turn into a massacre to kill so many children just like any other supporting antagonists like Rita Ripulsa from Power Rangers who terrorizes children for her pleasure. I don’t know what else to think of, because I just never heard all of the stories before because I’m actually looking for stories that would fit on my inspirations.

So Fate/Zero is actually a great manga story to read, but when you watch the anime series, it would blow you away. But unlike any other anime series that you’ve watched, this one is actually more interesting and makes you feel curious to watch the whole thing. As I said, I’ve never read or watched this series before, but I just gave you a little slightest of the details. Even for that, the Fate series has a non-stop action fighting sequences, fantasy influences, mostly the battles of the Holy War, even the plot of the story just took place in modern Japan. If you rather want to follow up more with the Fate series, then this one is just for you.
