Wonder Woman’s appearances in the DC Walmart 100 page Justice League Giants are now available from comic shops. This week, Wonder Woman Come Back To Me #1 is being released.

For those ‘out of the room’, or indeed, ‘out of the country’ during the past year, DC has been working with Walmart retail stores. Walmart has been chosen as a retail point of purchase for a cobranded series of 100-page Giant comic books. Each title has one 12 page chapter of new material per issue, and the rest of the book consists of reprinted material. It’s a good concept, and very popular.

Now, following in the footsteps of Superman and Batman, we can read a monthly comic book that collects two 12 page chapters of Wonder Woman from those Walmart Giants!

Written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, with art by Chad Hardin (colours by Alex Sinclair), Come Back To Me is an excellent jumping-on point for new Wonder Woman readers. Steve Rogers and Diana Prince are vacationing by the ocean, and times are good. We meet Diana’s roommate Etta Candy. Then, Wonder Woman is off, helping to fight forest fires, help animals, and generally lend a hand around the earth when needed.

Things get deeper and even more dangerous in Chapter Two, with plenty of tense times. But there are plenty of heroic moments too, and plenty to admire in both Wonder Woman’s compassionate nature, and her patience in dealing with ‘us’.

The dialogue is easy to follow, the story structure is solid, and the visuals are clear and well defined. We all cheer when we see Wonder Woman strike a pose, and we’re all bound to love this colourful six-issue miniseries, chapter by chapter!

DC Comics, Wonder Woman Come Back To Me #1, $4.99 for 25 pages of content. Teen

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
