If you like cats, you’ll likely love the new title from IDW/ Marvel, Marvel Action Captain Marvel.

It’s a cat paradise. In a way. You see, writer Sam Maggs, artist Sweeney Boo, and colourist Brittany Peer have combined their talents in this first issue, in “Big Flerken Deal”, and it’s the cat’s meow.

But you see, the trouble with Flerkens is that they look like cats, but are actually “the most terrifying, pocket-dimension-holding, tentacle-devouring kitty-look-alikes in the entire universe”! And they are invading the city while the other Avengers are out of town!

It’s a fun, young adult story, filled with friendships, felines, fights, and Captain Marvel, flying to the rescue. Or at least, that’s her intention! A brightly coloured, cartoony styled adventure. Something to curl up with at the end of a long day.

IDW/Marvel, Marvel Action Captain Marvel #1, $3.99 for 22 pages of content. All ages

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
