BILLY TUCCI ANNOUNCES CO-WRITER FOR FIRST “SHI” COMIC IN 15 YEARS!

Movie and TV writer, Steven Peros, will co-write “SHI: RETURN OF THE WARRIOR” following success of debut graphic novel

Shi creator, Billy Tucci, has selected longtime friend and veteran Hollywood Film and TV writer, Steven Peros, to co-write Shi: Return of the Warrior, Tucci’s first SHI comic book in 15 years.  Tucci and Peros have known each other since 7th Grade public school on Long Island and have encouraged and supported each other’s respective successes.

Peros debuted his first graphic novel in October, the 94-page Stoker & Wells: Order of the Golden Dawn, illustrated by Barry Orkin, a frequent inker, colorist, and logo designer for Tucci.

Conceived as Book One of a trilogy, Stoker & Wells: Order of the Golden Dawn imagines a 20-something H.G. Wells and a 40-something Bram Stoker meeting and having an unexpected 48-hour adventure that leads to the creative inspiration for both writer’s first great success – The Time Machine and Dracula.  Tucci provided the Kickstarter exclusive variant cover.

The book has received unanimously rave reviews thus far, including L.A. Weekly (“Spunky humor, shuddery frissons, and moves as swiftly as a well-tooled blockbuster!”), Dark Media (“A thrilling romp to the edge of imagination and back!”) and First Comics News (“An exciting time … The crossover with real people and literary creations combine into something special.”).

Says Tucci: “I had called Steven to run some script notes through him for Shi: Return of the Warrior script. He listened intently then began bringing up story beats, plot points and characterization that had escaped me. I was literally so inspired by the direction he was taking the story I asked if he’d be interested in writing the script with me… and thank the comic book gods he accepted!”

“I have loved Shi since Billy broke all the rules and created her back in the 90’s,” says Peros. “Billy and I have developed various Film and TV projects over the years, but I am floored that Billy has entrusted me to help deliver this exciting and twisted next chapter in Anna Ishikawa’s extraordinary life.”

Peros is a twice-published Samuel French playwright, who started his screenwriting career writing Lionsgate’s The Cat’s Meow, set in 1924, starring Kirsten Dunst, Cary Elwes, Eddie Izzard, and directed by Peter Bogdanovich.  An award-winning NYU Film School graduate, Peros’s feature film directing debut, Footprints, was praised as “One of the 10 Best Films So Far This Year” by the President of the New York Film Critics Circle.  He recently sold one-hour dramas to MTV and NBC/Universal, and has written projects for talent as diverse as Jackie Chan, Eva Longoria, and Dolly Parton.

In addition to Peros, J.C. Vaughn is being brought on to serve as Editor for Shi: Return of the Warrior, a post he held on Peros’s Stoker & Wells.

The 22-Day campaign for Shi: Return of the Warrior launches on both Kickstarter and Indiegogo, Thursday November 14th at 9pm EST and ends on December 6th.
