“We know the stories, but sometimes it’s hard to separate fact from truth.”

The Story:  Konami’s Castlevania is a hit series video game first introduced in North America in 1987 on NES and has enjoyed long success on different platforms throughout the years. In 2017 Netflix introduced the Television series. Season one and two are based off of 1989’s Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Seasons two and three borrow characters, and elements for 2005’s Castlevania Curse Of Darkness. All three seasons are available on Netflix.

What’s in the box: Diamond Select Toys introduces Wave 1 based on the Netflix series. Wave 1 includes Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard. Included with Trevor Belmont is the Morning Star sword, short sword, leather whip, bucket, long-chain, and multiple sets of hands some with throwing daggers. Sypha Belnades comes with eleven interchangeable hands four of which have blue magic effects one them. Alucard comes with open mouth head sculpt, sword with sheath, sword with effect, and 1o changeable hands. All figures have multiple points of articulation and are designed by Eamon O’Donoghue and sculpted by Richard Force.

The Verdict: DST hits it out of the park again. As they expand into many different licenses this was a nice change of pace from the norm. Although I have yet to finish watching the series I am still a fan of the Castlevania games. The depiction of each character is spot on to the series. The multiple accessories adds to a beautifully designed line of characters. They held up well to posing and multiple hand changes even the head of Alucard was an easy swap. If you are a fan of the series or even just a fan of the game this is a nice addition to add in and with series 2 coming shortly this line doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
