Issue 2 of Lytton, the character from Dr. Who, continues along the treacherous tread.

Again penned by Eric Saward and illustrated by Barry Renshaw, Issue Two directs us to the underground of London. Lytton and Wilson head to Aldwych West, where the abandoned subway station offers a few clues and plenty of mind-bending experiences.

Saward gives us fascinating and claustrophobic locales. The story is well told, the drama and suspense are kept elevated despite the low-overhead surroundings. Renshaw’s meticulously researched renderings serve to underline the ‘alternate reality’ that enhabits the Doctor Who universe: it’s a real place, but really, are we there, and are we perceiving what is there, or is it all altered?

The camera angles are extreme, the colour treatment is fluorescent and earth tone combined, the characters are being kept in a suffering state, but that’s where the drama occurs, and that’s where we hope it continues!

About Alan Spinney

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
