The Golum has awoken, and by golly, Josef the Golum has a project in mind. Fight the witches! The Golum Walks Among Us #1 is from Dark Horse.

A cult has formed in a small fishing village. The fishermen are snatching newborns for sacrifice! A showdown is inevitable.

Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden cowrite this Tale From The Outerverse, and imbue it with emotion. The story reads strongly; the characters are torn in their loyalties, the baddies are indeed bad, the stakes are high. It’s truly dramatic and ‘epic’ in its portrayal of the power of evil and good. Demons! Witches! Spirits! The Undead!

Peter Bergting illustrates with light and shadow, allowing natural and unnatural light sources (colouring by Michelle Madsen, letters by Clem Robins) to flicker and dance across the wood beams and sandy beach. Torches, lanterns, and crackling phosphorescent arcs keep our eye satisfied in this violent and explosive period drama.

Horror, suspense with a touching human element, highly recommended for a haunting evening of comic reading!

Dark Horse, The Golum Walks Among Us! #1 of 2, $3.99 for 24 pages of content. Assume Mature for horror and violence.

About Alan Spinney

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
