The Long Halloween continues and Batman must solve the mystery and catch the killer before it’s too late.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two picks right up where Part One left off. Batman and Gordon are still trying to track down the Holiday Killer. Harvey Dent is slowly coming undone. And Carmine Falcone decides to make his move.

Part Two leads right up to the climax and I truly enjoyed the ride. Again this is a great example of film noir. It really has the feel of a gritty detective film. The pacing is well done again. Bravo to director Chris Palmer on how he brought this all together. I really like how screenwriter Tim Sheridan does a great job adapting Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s story. And like I said in the review in Part One, this is an adaptation and if you think it’s going one way, the film takes a left turn on you.

The voice cast once again does an excellent job with their characters. The addition of Laila Berzins as Sofia Falcone really adds to the dynamic of the characters. It’s Josh Duhamel’s transformation from Harvey Dent to Two-Face that really stands out here. The way he does it, it really seems like two separate characters. I also hope that Jensen Ackles continues as Batman in this new DC animated universe.

Remember to sit through the credits. There is an end scene you don’t want to miss.

There’s some great bonus material here. First is a sneak peek at the next DC animated film, Injustice. This is based on the Injustice video game. This isn’t a part of the new DC animated universe. This is just a one-off’.  I’m not sure how I feel about this story. I saw the game and read the comics and just wasn’t really impressed. I’ll still give it shot.

Next is the animated short DC Showcase – Blue Beetle. This short was awesome. It mainly focuses on Blue Beetle, but also included other Charlton characters, the Question, Nightshade, and Captain Atom. They are referred to as Charlton characters! The best part of this short is it’s shot like the Spider-Man ’67 cartoon. It’s awesome! Such a great homage to that cartoon. Also makes sense because Steve Ditko created both characters. So cool!

Finally, there are trailers for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 and Batman: Hush. Plus two From the DC Vault cartoons: Batman: The Animated Series – “Two-Face, Part 1” and “Two-Face, Part 2”

Overall, while you don’t need to, it was interesting to see Part One and Part Two back to back. Warner Bros really did a great job adapting this incredible comic book story.

I highly recommend it.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two is out now on Digital Download, and will be on Blu-Ray on August 10th.
