The current Black Hammer, Lucy Weber has been on a mission to find her father and after coming into contact with an alternate reality version of her father things aren’t quite what she had hoped.

How does one reconcile coming across their long-lost parent, only to discover that they are an evil counterpart of what you once knew? WIll Lucy prove her worth as the successor of Black Hammer? Lucy must decide to either save reality or lose her family, forever.

The dilemma that Lucy faces as she tries to cling to the very thing that gave her purpose in life is captivating and well written by Lemiere. The stakes have never been higher for the characters within this book, especially for this issue as Lemiere continues to boil the pot until things spiral out of control due to the actions, and circumstances that snowball throughout the issue. Lemiere does a great job at juggling different moments throughout the book without straying from the plot, keeping the book tight and to the point. The battle for all reality, although gargantuan, is deeply intimate and personal, as it is more of a battle with the reality of one’s situation, vs the ideal hopes of what one yearns for, and it is executed perfectly in this issue.

Caitlyn Yarsky crafts some well-illustrated layouts full of lively characters, action, and clever humor that is convincing and believable in a world where all kinds of multiversal insanity ensues. Yarsky continues to display wonderful gesture work in every action and set-piece, and every expression is well executed in each panel, adding more depth to every character interaction within the book. Yarsky’s ability to display fun action while visually illustrating some brutality only increases the stakes within this book in all the right ways. Dave Stweart adds another layer to Yarsky’s work, highlighting each moment with his masterful colorwork, making this book a no-brainer to read through. Nate Piekos expertly handles the lettering and weaves the entire book together making it a delightfully enjoyable package of an installment to read.,

This is a solid installment for this limited series, full of fun moments, a ton of insanity, action, and personal stakes that lives up to the name of this limited series and world that it is a part of as a whole. It’s exciting to see how this series will conclude, and readers will be interested to see where things head towards next. Definitely add this to your pull list for new comic book day.
