Dark Horse Comics and Shogakukan bring you a hilarious manga series about a single woman who is a gamer and eventually adopts a cat which is Cat + Gamer volume 1.

And no if you’re thinking of Spy X Family, you really need to have your eyes checked because the Cat + Gamer has an image of the D-Pad on the title and the Spy X Family, is almost like they added a cross. And I don’t know why does any other comic have to add a cross or X on a manga title anyway? Why not use “And” it’s quite simple. So anyway, I had some moments back when I reviewed another cat comic called What’s Michael which is about a foreign cat and his adventures in Japan, while this comic, the cat is being adopted by an introverted otaku who’s about to be 30 years old later. But to tell you the truth, this manga will bring you so much fuzziness and cuteness along the way. The story is created by Wataru Nadatani, a Japanese manga artist who published some past titles such as fantasy genres and cat mangas, and eventually at the start of this series he got his own cat… Ok, I’M GLAD that Dark Horse put a bit of personal bio of the creator itself because I don’t even know who the heck this guy is who draws a cat manga other than Makoto Kobayashi because having a pet while you draw comics would make you feel more relaxed, it’s a fun way to have some company without interacting with humans.

The front cover shows the cat itself staring at your restless soul begging you to buy this book. The only good thing is that the cat is drawn very realistic and looking at brings me good luck. This cat almost reminds me of my sister’s friend whose cat is just like that, but a little chubby when I started going to college. I would stare at this cat all day, but I got a comic to review anyway.

So, anyway, the story starts with a single woman named Riko Kozakura who works in a trading company and happens to carry a box, but inside a box, it’s a cute kitten. In her daily life, she actually is a good work just to get everything done in time, and she is desperate to get out of the company just to go home and play video games, even though, her co-workers named her “Zero-Overtime Woman” and “Hell No Kozakura” because she’s only there for work and she has no time to make friends. Some workers think that she’s anti-social and some other guy thinks that it’s too bad. I think that the lifestyle that she lives is NOT bad at all. I do get a lot of sense that workers are only there for work and nothing more, and go home and do whatever they want. I too get my work done and get home on time to avoid human interaction because much as anyone, I like to play video games, do my freelance work and review this comic at the same time, while Riko drives over to her house to buy some expensive stuff on her way back that almost cost more than 500 dollars or 65,000 yen for all that crap. However her otaku image at home, SHE LOOKS SO STUPID!! I MEAN, AT WORK SHE LOOKED SO BEAUTIFUL, BUT WHILE AT HOME, WHAT THE HELL DOES SHE LOOK LIKE?! She looks like Hange Zoe from Attack On Titan who has a weird passion for Titans, while here she is passionate about playing video games while eating some expensive food.

Then the next day, a police officer found a cat in the parking lot of the company, and Riko took him in, but she doesn’t have any knowledge of taking care of a cat. And even when she takes him home, she thinks that the cat is like a battery-powered toy. However in her eyes, whenever she looks at her cat, the cat seemed to be adorable for a starting cat breeder like her, she would have to raise her to another level as if you were raising a baby of her own.

In her daily time, she likes to do exactly what she wants, to play video games all day, but she also has a responsibility to raise a cat. But when you get to the next few pages, you’ll come to realize how much fun you’re reading this manga with some hilarious moments between a single living gamer woman and a cat. All I can say is, that it’s hilarious and it’s really cute and fuzzy at the same time. The worst thing about this is that it makes me feel really guilty to be at home alone playing video games and doing my freelance work without any company. Like I should be doing something better with my time. Like looking at someone’s pet and saying “I like your dog.” I gotta get outside, I got to out somewhere to adopt a cat or dog. Preferably a Boston Terrier who likes to chew coffee-flavored gum with his Stand power which summons a sand creature, while biting a French man’s hair while farting.

The story is quite hilarious to know that the cat has so many lives just to make fun with the owner. But reading this manga about a cat makes me feel relaxed and I burst out laughter many times when the cat is being a troublemaker to her. It made me laugh when he turned off the game console and she cursed out loud, echoing the whole neighborhood, or how about when she weirdly interacts with other people with some RPG scenarios with status effects and copper swords. I can’t tell you enough about the art, the art is just like all the other manga series that I’ve read in the past that go like this art style. Can’t they think of another art style that doesn’t look the same imagery?! The only thing I like about the art of this manga is the cat. Again, looking at it gives me such fuzzy feelings inside. The author claimed that he got himself his own cat when he started making this series which eventually created that illustrated cat in this manga. It’s pretty shocking that most of your pets are being illustrated in real life, but it’s amazing that you get to create a story that reflects his experience with him and his cat. It’s amazing that creators get to own their pets and made a comic series about it. I really love it.
