Lona comes face to face with Necro as he provides her information as to why she has been invited to his realm for one sole purpose, to join his Deathlyfe Tag Team Tournament! If Lona is to join, what will it cost her? Does she even have a choice?

Although the writing, despite all the snappy and subtle humor, and action-packed scale, at its core, is just a story about a Daughter trying to fight for the soul of their parent, which is the driving force of Lona’s story as the series protagonist. She’s likable and endearing, making her a great protagonist to follow throughout this book. Given her predicament of having to participate in a deadly wrestling tournament that isn’t scripted, finding a suitable tag team partner for a deadly upcoming match, in addition to having to make a decision that affects her life, Johnson creates a compelling story full of action, humor, insanity, and heart. Readers are sure to be surprised with what Johnson throws their way that makes this a worthwhile read.

Anyone that is familiar with Daniel Warren Johnson’s work as an illustrator can be sure to expect nothing less than what he already delivers stylistically as an illustrator, which is nothing but quality. From different kinds of line weight that emphasize power to the layouts that are displayed throughout the entirety of the issue. Of the many wacky characters that are illustrated in this book, there’s just something hypnotizing in how Johnson illustrates Necro, who commands every scene that he is in, making for one of the most consistent standout antagonists and characters throughout the book.

The art department delivers as Johnson provides kinetic action and dynamism with his illustrative pencils and inks, which are beautifully colored by Mike Spicer’s textured colors that give Johnson’s art more power. And accompanied in unison with Rus Wooton’s stylistic lettering, it’s just a beautifully packaged book full of fun and action that anyone that is a wrestling fan or not can appreciate from this series. I definitely recommend picking this issue up and adding to your pull list for new comic book day.
