Synopsis: The new team, the Zanzibar Four set out to learn the face of the mysterious threat that has been plaguing the world since the beginning of this series.

What will they discover about their mysterious antagonists, and can they believe the information that’s being fed to them? Or are they playing into a trap?

Writing/Plot: Matt Kindt writes another mind-bending installment of this series that is witty, mysterious, and zany all in one. Our protagonists Kito, Denny, and Chiyo are introduced to new characters and finally learn of the presence of their main antagonist, Mister Hide, who’s name is fitting to his M.O. There’s a Doom Patrol vibe to this book that is digestible, ridiculous and fun that keeps you invested on this mind-altering adventure as we follow these protagonists throughout the book. Kindt writes with a story that’s fast-paced, wacky, and clever that you can’t guess the next moment as you turn the page.

David Rubin provides art for this issue and not only is it beautifully stylistic and trippy to look at, it’s cleverly laid out in a stylistic faction that is impressionable and enjoyable to read through. Whether it’s his ability to display different sceneries, different styles and mind frames, sensory deprivation, or little details that snowball into the forefront, Rubin effectively communicates the story visually well. Not only is his layouts strong, but his color work coupled with his lettering just make this a worthwhile book to pick up and read. I recommend picking up this comic for new comic book day.
