The young woman who has no fear of monsters. While everyone around her is losing their heads, or limbs, or vertebrae, she is calmly comforted by these terrible beings. It’s Heart Eyes issue 2, from Vault Comics.

Writer Dennis Hopeless delivers a solid issue this time around too, containing clues about Lupe, our ’no fear’ female survivor. It turns out she IS a survivor, with some plot and character surprises along the way.

Artist Victor Ibanez serves up great lashes of art, huge helpings of horror, carefully carved and shaped, in beautiful proportions. l really like this art! It’s expressive, and the sequences unfold naturally and logically. Addison Duke’s colours (assists by K.J. Diaz) are likewise expressive, moody, and creepy!

Letters by Simon Bowland.

Altogether, a well-constructed horror title, worth picking up this month!

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
