Cat-Man and Kitten return with a new standalone story as they investigate the disappearance of a mysterious artifact. An artifact so ancient, it may possess the power to access other dimensions, and should it fall under the wrong hands, could lead to dangerous results for all.

It’s up to Cat-Man and Kitten to solve this case, even if it means they have to face the likes of the Lavender Gang, Pterodactyls, and Snake Men to solve it!

Jeff Parker lends his writing to a golden-age character that’s often undermined and overlooked in the pantheon of superheroes. Given that this is a standalone story, Jeff Parker goes to great lengths to give a 40-page story that takes Cat-Man and Kitten on an adventure across the world. Parker establishes the general plot with action, humor, and enthusiasm as readers get to explore bits of Cat-Man’s world without losing the story as a byproduct of it. Cat-Man and Kitten are a fun crime-fighting duo, and Parker does a solid job at establishing who these characters are without getting bogged down with origin stories, and instead provides little moments that give readers a quick idea as to who these characters are, how they came to be, and what their purpose is within this globe-trotting story. Parker’s writing exudes the same kind of fun that one would find in stuff like the 90’s publication of Batman Adventures, or any of the Timm/Dini animation-based titles, where its taking a classic character, distilling them to their purest form and making their adventures digestible for general audiences regardless of age. This book

Joseph Cooper illustrates the book, providing fun visuals with simplicity. His layouts are simple yet effective, but it’s the art style that really sings in tandem with Arancia Studio’s colors, which gives it a fun, bouncy, swashbuckling flair that one can enjoy reading. Jeff Eckleberry provides lettering for this book and does a great job at exuding the right kind of tone with his lettering for this book, even down to the title card font that is akin to Batman: The Animated Series. Much of this book is made with enthusiasm and it reads a good self-contained story that anyone can enjoy. If you’re a fan of stuff like Batman Adventures, Superman Adventures, and stuff of that nature, then I think Jeff Parker, Joseph Cooper, Arancia Studio, and Jeff Eckleberry have you covered. Add this to your pull list for new comic book day.
