There’s more cosmic mystery and meandering around the Black Hammer Universe with Colonel Weird and Little Andromeda, a new hardcover from Dark Horse.

Colonel Weird decides he must save his superhero colleagues from their bad bad days, but entering the Para-Zone. But then he is paired with a much younger Doctor Andromeda. Many of Jeff Lemire’s other characters reappear and flow in and out of this time-bending high-floating balloon of a story.

Lemire does not poke his nose or toes into this hardcover, instead Tate Brombal takes on the writing duties.

And this volume succeeds, mostly, taking us on a twisting tale of bewildering proportions, with its whimsical and touching moments.

Illustrators? Oh, plentiful, including these artists and colourists: Tyler Bence, Andrea Sorrentino, Marguerite Sauvage, Yuko Shimizu, Dani, Nick Robles, Shawn Kuruneru, Ariela Kristantina, Jordie Bellaire, Bill Crabtree, Ray Fawkes, Dave Stewart. Letters by Steve Wands.

Dark Horse, Colonel Weird and Little Andromeda, $29.99 for 136 pages.

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
