Vampirella and Dyna Might continue their pursuit to find and stop Mr. Fix and his Elixir drug smuggling operation across dimensions. While Vampirella and her team of heroes try to carry out their covert operation, they’re also pursued by the S Division as they investigate the entire case and Vampirella’s association to all of the happenings surrounding it. Can Vampirella stay out of the S Division’s hairs long enough to solve the case behind the Elixir smugglings?

Abnett maintains a compelling story that is well-paced and exciting to read throughout as readers follow Vampirella’s investigation into the killer behind the Elixir distribution that is causing all kinds of mayhem between worlds. Vampirella continues to exude all sorts of cool as the leading protagonist who is witty, calm, and collected when need be. While that is nothing new when it comes to the character in previous iterations, Abnett’s ability to write her in a 1948 setting makes a great contrast for her character that makes her stand out due to how she and those around her react to one another. Whether it’s the S Division’s suspicions of Vampirella’s presence and connection to the Elixir smugglings, or Mr. Fix’s goons attempt to destroy Vampirella, her reaction to either circumstance garners interest as to what happens next within this series.

Pasquale Qualano does an amazing job at illustrating this iteration of a 1948 Los Angeles in a Neo-Noir fashion. From the character designs and aesthetics, everything is stylized and alluring a sense of cool that almost feels fitting for an anime, which is in part due to Ellie Wright’s color work. Ellie Wright’s cool shaded colors give Qualano’s illustrations and panel work a brisk energy that is fitting for the book, making every panel look like a snippet or frame for an animated series due to sound color choices that make all of the art beautiful to gaze upon. Jeff Eckleberry does a great job lettering this issue, complimenting the entire art team, and keeping everything tight and in lockstep with the art, making for a pleasant read throughout. This series continues to entertain and is a Vampirella series worth checking out for new comic book day.
