San Diego Comic Con, the Mecca of all fandoms begins today. Crusade Comics, alongside 175,000 other guests, exhibitors, and attendees, will be set up on the in Hall B (Booth 1801) and is offering several limited-edition exclusives, comics, books, prints, product and one very special free giveaway; The Crusade Collector’s Coin Challenge!

At this year’s Comic-Con (and all subsequent conventions while supplies last), Shi-Creator Billy will be giving away a super limited, “mis-struck” Shi: Haikyo-Sakura hybrid antique brass challenge coin. The “challenge” is easy, simply walk up to the Crusade Comics Booth and present any one of Crusade’s past coins, (Tucci Trooper, Shi 25th Anniversary, Return of the Warrior, Haikyo, Sakura, Omnibus or Zombie-Sama) and Billy will hand you one of the rare mis-strike hybrid coins FREE.

For 2023, Crusade is featuring the Shi: Art of War Anniversary Glitter Edition. Showcasing Ana Ishikawa in a gorgeous Retro Barbie swimsuit ensemble, Shi pays homage to the iconic childhood and collectible classic in true Southern California fashion. The 32-page book is limited to just 99 signed and numbered editions for $29.00 US. Prints and bundle packs are also available.

Crusade has also produced the extremely limited signed and numbered White Metal “Ceramic Steel” covered editions for the Barbie Homage, and the 25th Anniversary Shi: Senryaku #1.

Limited to just 25 copies each, the books feature an actual metal cover coated with a white, ceramic steel. This process highlights the sheer white areas of the cover artwork and gleams with sophistication.

On the other hand, the Shi: Warrior Gallery Metal Edition boasts a natural-sheen, stainless metal used to bring out all the wonderful undersea elements of that cover.

All Metal covered editions are amongst the rarest of all Shi books and limited to just 25 signed and numbered editions each and retail for $135.00 US.

Comics for Ukraine is a new and important book that is raising funds to aid people whose lives have been devastated by the ongoing war in Ukraine. Some of the top names in comics have donated their time and artistry to this book, which is debuting at Comic-Con. Come join several of those folks as they talk about their stories and why this project is so important. Mark Evanier, John Layman, Stan Sakai, and Billy Tucci will be on hand, as well as Richard Walden, the founder of Operation USA, the charity that is funneling funds to help the struggling people of Ukraine. Moderated by book organizer Scott Dunbier.

Celebrate Inkpot recipients Amanda Conner, Brian Pulido, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Billy Tucci as they’re joined by Coffin Comics’ Francisca Pulido and Crusade Comics’ Deborah Tucci. The couples discuss being married to a comics creator, running a publishing company, and how you too can find mainstream and crowdfunding success. Multi-Eisner Award winner Jeff Smith moderates the return of one of Comic-Con’s most popular, entertaining, and educational panels.

Award-winning artist/writer Billy Tucci discusses the phenomenal revival of his breakout female Asian hero, Shi, and the multi-Eisner Award nominee’s newfound direct market and crowdfunding success. Billy will be joined by Shi writers Steven Peros(Stoker & Wells, Shi: Shiruku)J.C. Vaughn(Shi: Gatecrasher, Vampire, PA), and Deborah Tucci (executive director, Crusade Comics). Moderated by Michael Solof(Al Capone: Vampire).

About Billy Tucci

Inkpot Award recipient Billy Tucci is a cartoonist best known for his modern-day samurai saga Shi. Through his company, Crusade Fine Arts, Shi has been printed in five languages and sold more than 3 million comic books. The graduate of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology has earned the prestigious Diamond Comics Gem Award and has been nominated for four Eisner Awards. In addition to his own creations, Billy’s DC Comics’ graphic novel, Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion, was awarded the Military Writers Society of America Gold Medal for its depiction of the real-life 442nd Regimental Combat Team, which was comprised of Japanese American soldiers.
