Ben Grimm, Doctor Doom, and Tovah Tu attempt their final stand against Psychopomp from remaking the universe in his image. What will it take to defeat him? Can the combined might of sworn enemies be enough to win against their common foe?

Having evergreen stories is imperative to keep readership from longtime readers and new readers alike, that way it provides an easy jumping-on point that isn’t bogged down by a heap of continuity that might feel overwhelming for any reader. Because of this, Clobbering Time’s fortune is that it is a self-contained series where the focus is on the story and nothing else, and it is a smashing, good time, as Skroce displays the very best that Ben Grimm has to offer as a character that is often underappreciated in marvel’s staple of characters. The level of humor, naturally infused with action as Ben and Doom squabble and collaborate with the Watcher, Tuvah Tu, as they make their last attempt to take down Psychopomp is enjoyable. It’s the kind of fun that’s hard to come by within the superhero genre pertaining to the big two, and Skroce not only understands that but fills that void with this book by doing what he does best, combining action with a well-paced story that is full of solid sequentials that can be brutal at times yet cleverly balanced with humor.

Skroce does a great job illustrating the entirety of this book, and while he is a fantastic illustrator that can draw balls-to-the-wall action like no one else, some of the best stuff that he delivers is the humor. Seeing the level of damage that Ben endures makes it all worthwhile to read to the very end. The level of damage is akin to Al Ewing and Joe Bennet’s Immortal Hulk in that regard, which is always welcomed to see. Aside from Skroce’s art, Joe Sabino does a fine job lettering the book, and Bryan Valenza does a great job coloring the book, complimenting Skroce’s art, allowing for everyone to shine as needed. This is a fun mini-series and a nice cheeky conclusion to it. If you’re looking for an action-packed evergreen series from Marvel to jump into, this is one to check out and add to your pull list.
