Growing up (who am I kidding? I’ll never grow up!) The Fantastic Four was always my favorite. To narrow it down, my favorite of the four is the ever-loving, blue-eyed Thing. Of the 704 issues (legacy numbering) of FF, I own a good 600+ issues. I’ve read the comics through the good and the bad and even the uneventful. I enjoyed the recent run by Dan Slott but I don’t feel like it had enough time to really get off the ground. That said, this latest run by Ryan North and artist Iban Coello harkens back to that era of Mark Wade and Ringo (RIP) when the book was able to just be fun and not take itself too seriously while still having a BIG BLOCKBUSTER feel. This issue is no exception!

Fantastic Four #11 (or 704 Legacy) is a one-off story about Ben Grimm trying to get used to normal, married life living in his own house. Pestered by a dog that seemingly pops out of nowhere, The Thing is thrust into an otherworldly adventure facing a B-list FF villain, The Miracle Man. In a classic clobber stuff story, Ben fights his way through a confusing whirlwind of frustrations that are more inconvenient than an actual earth-rattling event. The end is heartwarming and silly in all the best ways adding to Marvel’s first family with a fun little twist.

If you are looking for a good jump on point with an easy read and low stakes, Fantastic Four #11 is that book for you. I give it 4/5  Krackles!
