Hake’s Auctions has a history of offering great graded comics and original comic art, many of which go for record amounts in the final minutes. Well, this year they’re kicking things off by trying something different – all of the items in their first auction of 2024 have starting bids of $9.99! So if you want to get into the auction game, you only need $10 to get started! Here are some of the key issues and original artwork that you can bid on starting today.

Daredevil Vol. 2 #9 – First Echo

The newest Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney Plus is Echo, about the deaf, Native American martial artist who recently crossed paths with Hawkeye in his TV series. But her first appearance was in the pages of Daredevil, and now you can bid on a high-grade copy of that issue for pennies on the dollar. (More of a classic DD fan? They also have the first appearance of Elektra!)

Batman #181 – First Poison Ivy

Everyone remembers 1966 as being a big year for Batman, as the feature-length film based on his TV series came out in theaters. But it was also the year a new villain debuted in the pages of the Batman Comics – Poison Ivy! While she never appeared on the 1960s TV series, she’s since gone on to join that show’s villains to be one of the Dark Knight’s go-to bad guys. A mid-level grade puts this comic within reach of entry-level bidders.

Fantastic Four #48 – First Silver Surfer and Galactus

Sure, it’s got a low grade, but who would turn down a chance to own this part of this epic Fantastic Four storyline? With the FF ready to return to the big screen soon, this may be the time to invest in some classic issues.

Scott McDaniel Original Nightwing Art

Best known for his work on Nightwing and Batman, Scott McDaniel is an amazing artist, and any piece of art by him would be a treasure to own. Obviously, hero shots of Nightwing go for big bucks, but this page showcases Nightwing in his alter ego of Target, and still sports McDaniel’s dynamic linework.

Unused Batgirl Comic Artwork

Original comic artwork is always great to have, but what about unused artwork? This page starring Cassandra Cain as Batgirl is by the legendary Javier Saltares, but was never used. That doesn’t make this hero art any less spectacular, though.

Amazing Spider-Man #50 – First Kingpin

Another MCU character turning up in the new Echo TV series, Kingpin made his debut in the key #50 issue of Amazing Spider-Man, which also happens to sport a pretty darn iconic cover. Pick up the cover and the character while the iron is hot.
