One year after announcing the launch of the first-of-its-kind creator-owned company at New York Comic Con, GHOST MACHINE returns to the premier East Coast comic book and pop culture convention (October 17-20), debuting a huge new booth and partnership with Midtown Comics.
Following a run of sell-out success for GEIGER, REDCOAT and ROOK: EXODUS, and just after the launch of its new horror series HYDE STREET hits shelves, Ghost Machine and Midtown Comics combine forces on the show’s main floor at booth #3043 where the two companies will host superstar signings with Ghost Machine’s Brad Anderson, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch, Geoff Johns, Rob Leigh, Lamont Magee, Francis Manapul, Ivan Reis, Peter Snejbjerg, Peter J. Tomasi and Maytal Zchut.
“We’re excited to return to the convention where we launched Ghost Machine one year ago,” the Ghost Machine creators said in a joint statement. “We’re equally excited to partner with the great team at Midtown Comics, who have championed our books since day one. Their retail expertise and deep industry knowledge will make our second year at NYCC even bigger, better, and more bombastic!”
The new 20 x 30 booth will not only host signings, but also feature a full retail store, including a limited edition of Hyde Street #1, prints featuring Ghost Machine’s breakout characters and a full complement of previous work from each creator’s long history of best-selling titles from across the industry.
“The excitement and enthusiasm around Ghost Machine, its creators and its new titles made this a natural partnership,” enthused Midtown Comics co-owner and chief marketing officer Gerry Gladston. “The Midtown Comics team can’t wait to return to NYCC for another huge year alongside the most revolutionary publisher in comics!”
In addition to its new booth, Ghost Machine also hosts a Saturday panel (room #1C03, Oct. 19) with its creators celebrating its first year of publishing. At the panel, Ghost Machine will make some exciting announcements about upcoming projects as well as a look back at the company’s ground breaking first year. The panel will also feature the recipient of the Ghost Machine Scholarship and debut their variant cover for January’s Geiger #10. With an eye towards fostering superstar creators of tomorrow, the Ghost Machine Scholarship was established this June with the famous Joe Kubert School.
The first 100 attendees of the panel will also receive a limited-edition Family Odysseys ashcan edition featuring black and white previews of Novembers’ The Rocketfellers and Hornsby & Halo.
Ghost Machine’s groundbreaking creator collective was launched at New York Comic Con in October 2023 and features a global best-of-class lineup of artists and writers whose award-winning and iconic works include a who’s who of comic book legends such as Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Aquaman, Stargirl, JSA, The Flash, The Ultimates, Black Lightning, Green Arrow and countless more: Brad Anderson, Jason Fabok, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch, Geoff Johns, Rob Leigh, Lamont Magee, Francis Manapul, Brad Meltzer, Ivan Reis, Peter Snejbjerg, Peter J. Tomasi, and Maytal Zchut. In an industry first, all of Ghost Machine’s creators jointly own and run the company, sharing in all of Ghost Machine’s publishing, media, merchandising and licensing. Each creator is exclusive to the company for their comic book work after completing projects already committed to. Ghost Machine recently boosted its already unrivaled creator roster with renowned inkers Andrew Currie and Danny Miki who joined on an exclusive basis.
Ghost Machine kicked off its monthly release schedule this year in April with a triple sell-out of a trio of titles written by Geoff Johns, each title with multiple reprint orders: an all-new ongoing post-apocalyptic adventure series GEIGER with art by Gary Frank, colored by Brad Anderson and lettered by Rob Leigh; the alternative history romp REDCOAT illustrated by Bryan Hitch, colored by Anderson, inked by Andrew Currie and lettered by Leigh; and the sci-fi epic ROOK: EXODUS with artwork by Jason Fabok, colored by Anderson and lettered by Leigh. The respective fifth issues are available this month.
In October, Ghost Machine will unleash its horror universe beginning with HYDE STREET, which reunites Johns with Aquaman and Green Lantern: Blackest Night collaborator Ivan Reis; the series will be colored by Anderson, inked by Danny Miki and lettered by Leigh. Maytal Zchut, one of Ghost Machine’s founding co-creators, will make her eagerly awaited comic book writing debut with the one-shot IT HAPPENED ON HYDE STREET: DEVOUR, illustrated by French-born artist Leila Leiz and colored by Alex Sinclair. The Peter J. Tomasi written series THE ROCKETFELLERS, with art by Francis Manapul, and HORNSBY & HALO illustrated by Peter Snejbjerg, will kick start Ghost Machine’s Family Odysseys in November 2024. All of Ghost Machine’s titles are published through Image Comics.
