The original graphic novel at the heart of this epic campaign is Worlds Beyond Number Presents: The Wizard, The Witch, and The Wild One: Prelude – the first book in The Wizard, the Witch, and the Wild One saga. Adapted by Jadzia Axelrod (DC’s Galaxy series, Hawkgirl) and illustrated by Sarah Webb (Legends & Lattes, Kochab), this 240-page hardcover tells the story of how Suvi (the Wizard), Ame (the Witch), and Eursulon (the Wild One) first met, and the summer adventure that changed their lives forever.

“We’ve dreamed for a long time about finding the right way to bring The Wizard, the Witch, and the Wild One to the page, and seeing this world transformed into a graphic novel has been genuinely surreal for all of us,” remarked the Worlds Beyond Number cast: Brennan Lee Mulligan, Aabria Iyengar, Erika Ishii, and Lou Wilson. “What began as friends telling a story together has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined, thanks entirely to the passion of our community. We’re incredibly excited to invite you back into Umora in a whole new way.”

Snow falling, over endless white sand… So begins the prelude to The Wizard, the Witch, and the Wild One. In this prequel, we meet Suvi, Ame, and Eursulon as children, and see them thrust from the known into peril, confusion, and new worlds they will struggle to understand. This is the story of how our trio met, and the events that would bring them back together so many years later.

“As a long-time RPG player and GM – as well as professionally writing a couple of modules – I was primed to become a fan of WBN from the moment it launched,” remarked writer Jadzia Axelrod. “I’ve been writing comics professionally for over a decade, so imagine my delight when I got a call from an editor I love working with to adapt my favorite podcast! The stars could not have aligned better. Figuring out how to tell a story with no visuals at all in a primarily visual medium was no easy task, but I relished the challenge! And I am so incredibly proud of the end result Sarah and I have made.”

“The WBN team has created such a beautifully textured and moving world here, and it was a true pleasure to spend time with this story while translating it to a visual medium.” Artist Sarah Webb continued, “This graphic novel has so many elements I love illustrating – funny, cute, and very heartfelt characters and creatures, a fairytale witch’s cottage, deep dark forests, festivals, strange monsters – but more uniquely, I think it truly has a story worth telling.”

Fans won’t want to miss backing the campaign to secure exclusive rewards including Bookmarks, Stickers, Patches, Pins & Prints (each with Wizard, Witch, and Wild One variations), and an abundance of stretch goals to be unlocked!

“We’re all such big fans of Worlds Beyond Number at Skybound and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them to bring this epic adventure to the pages of comics for the very first time.” said Alex Antone, Editorial Director at Skybound. “Jadzia and Sarah did an absolutely knockout job on this book, and we can’t wait for fans to dive in!”

Skybound continues to build its reputation as the biggest name in comic book publisher crowdfunding, setting records with the most funded comics campaigns on Kickstarter with The TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Compendium Sets, and the most funded webcomic, Ava’s Demon Book Two: Aftermath. Skybound’s record-breaking slate of graphic novel campaigns that have elevated a diverse group of voices also includes J.
