Bestselling Rat Queens co-creators Kurtis Wiebe and Roc Upchurch reunite to expand the beloved comic book franchise into a reimagined version of the long-awaited Rat Queens game through Wiebe’s own Talespinner Games and a newly launched Backerkit crowdfunding campaign. The pre-launch page is live now, featuring the first chapter of a choose-your-own adventure-style comic that will go public when the campaign launches on Tuesday, August 4.
In this new campaign, Talespinner Games will be giving all backers from the original campaign a free copy to honor their support and contribution to the game, whom without, none of this would be possible. The previously crowdfunded campaign, through another company back in 2021, was plagued with delays and ultimately left its loyal backers with many unfulfilled promises. Now Talespinner seeks to do right by those backers, draw in a new audience, and give the fandom the game they always hoped to play.
“I’ve learned, in the intervening years, to never let what I create far from my hands or heart,” said Wiebe.
With an incredible base design by award winning game designers Sen-Foong Lim and Erica Bouyouris, the project desperately needed a whole new take on the creative direction. Together, with Upchurch, they built the game as it was always meant to be. Now, featuring wholly original art and characters exclusive to the game, and properly infused with its bawdy humor, it is the definitive board game adaptation that the fans always deserved.
