Skybound Entertainment, in partnership with Universal Products & Experiences, proudly announces the remastered release of Universal Monsters: Frankenstein #1 (of 2), the limited comic book series from award-winning artist/writer Michael Walsh (Exquisite Corpses). Universal Monsters: Frankenstein brings the cry of “It’s alive!” as Walsh returns to present his jaw-dropping vision of the seminal horror classic remastered in stunning black & white this October.

Originally released as a four-issue limited series, this two-issue double feature tells the shocking story behind one of the body parts used to create the unforgettable monster in the original film.

Universal Monsters: Frankenstein follows Dr. Henry Frankenstein as he begins his unholy quest to create life by robbing the grave of a decorated police officer to find necessary parts, specifically a strong pair of hands. But little does he know that the corpse has a son who is mourning a father – and that this young boy will forever change Frankenstein’s life.

Frankenstein is one of those stories that transcends time and cements itself as one of the most iconic and influential monster stories in the horror genre,” said Caitlin Chappell, Assistant Editor at Skybound. “Universal Monsters and Walsh are a dynamic collaboration that do this beloved monster justice, and we’re excited to give fans a classic double feature with Universal Monsters: Frankenstein Black and White Special Issue #1, which collects the original first and second issues in one book.”

Released as part of Skybound and Universal Products & Experiences’ expanding Universal Monsters comic line, Frankenstein followed the Eisner Award-nominated Universal Monsters: Dracula by James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds, and Creature From the Black Lagoon Lives! by Dan Watters, Ram V and Matthew Roberts, and was later joined by titles including  Faith Erin Hick’s The Mummy, James Tynion IV and DANI’s The Invisible Man, Tyler Boss and Martin Simmonds’ Phantom of the Opera, the currently releasing Blood of the Wolf Man by Joshua Williamson and Leomacs, and the recently announced The Bride of Frankenstein Lives! by Kelly Thompson and Mattia De Iulis. Each installment pairs top creative talent with one of pop culture’s most legendary horror icons, delivering fresh, standalone stories for longtime fans and new readers alike.
