Nightwing enters the world of hackers, fake news, and terror, in DC’s Nightwing Annual #1.
Brightly written by Benjamin Percy, and beautifully illustrated by fan favourite Otto Schmidt, this is a really good story, entitled “Deadline”.
The Darkweb organization is beginning to expand as Dick Grayson travels to Gotham City and teams up with Vicki Vale. But the web is being tightly weaved, and shapeshifters are infiltrating the inner workings of the heart of the city. It’s danger and lots of it. Who is controlling what we read, what we see, and what we say??
I loved the sharp writing and clever concepts at hand in this Annual. The tightly paced script is in capable hands of artist Schmidt, who also coloured the issue… his ability to render stylized but attractive faces puts him in my high esteem. Here, Schmidt manages to tie together forms and figures in a gracefully elegant but powerful execution of the action-filled plot.
