A living mummy, a rockabilly vampire, and one hell of a conspiracy.

BIXBY GRANT, PRIVATE EYE: FANGS & BRIMSTONE #5

Now Live on Kickstarter

The Supernatural Detective Series Returns to Kickstarter October 13 With a New Chapter of Fangs & Brimstone and the Backup Story Zombietown

Harbor City’s greatest private detective is trapped beneath its streets with a demonic cult, a horde of angry goblins, and more than a century of unresolved family trauma…

Patrick Coyle, co-founder of pioneering online comics publisher Komikwerks, brings the fan-favorite indie series BIXBY GRANT, PRIVATE EYE: FANGS & BRIMSTONE back on Kickstarter with its fifth issue! The latest chapter of the six-part supernatural detective series features art by Gonzalo Martínez, colors by Arthur Hesli (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), and is edited by GLAAD and Eisner Award-winning Heather Antos, along with a new installment of the backup story Zombietown, illustrated by Gonzalo Ruggieri. Both stories are lettered by Coyle.

Bixby Grant has followed the trail of his long-lost brother Max’s ancient dagger, directly into the secret lair of a demonic cult! Beneath the streets of Harbor City, Bix and Diego, the rockabilly vampire, confront the hooded killers bent on literally raising hell on Earth, only to be captured by monstrous goons and tossed in the hoosegow. To escape, Bix must reckon with his greatest foe —unresolved emotions about his evil brother! Will Bix wrangle his personal demons and overcome a horde of angry goblins in time to stop a literal demon?

The 32-page issue features 20 pages of Fangs & Brimstone and an eight-page chapter of Zombietown, which digs into Harbor City’s undead underworld, where police corruption and organized crime take on a whole new meaning.

The action heats up in the heart of Zombietown, the five square blocks of Harbor City inhabited by thousands of the undead. Detective Maritza Ramirez went there seeking clues in the disappearance of her father, beloved Harbor City Police Captain Jorge Ramirez. Don Scarpino, the undead leader of Il Cosa Muerte, the zombie mafia, has confronted her with her worst fears made real. Maritza must pull herself together, face those fears head-on, and figure out a plan to get out of Z-Town alive, now that her zombie-proof suit has been damaged!

The issue features covers by Veronica Fish and Eisner and Eagle Award-winning, New York Times-bestselling creator Francesco Francavilla, plus a 3D lenticular variant cover by veteran character designer and storyboard artist Coran Kizer Stone, available as an Early Bird special for the first 48 hours of the campaign and limited to just 25 copies!

With the series heading into its final act, Patrick Coyle is raising the stakes for Bix both inside and out:

“Readers have been asking when the next issue is coming, so I know people are as hyped as I am for Fangs & Brimstone #5! We’re entering the final act of the story, so things are going to get much worse before they get better. For Bix, as with many of us in the real world, dealing with emotional trauma and mental health is unsettling and difficult, but so important. If Bix can tackle that, he can get back to what he does best: going toe-to-toe with the TRUE villain of the story, revealed here for the first time. And let’s talk about Coran Kizer Stone’s lenticular cover! How sweet is that?! This is the first 3D cover we’ve done, and it came out amazing. I couldn’t be happier with it.”
