Oh.. My stars and garters! Hasbro just gave us a new Beast figure!
The Beast is a founding member of the X-Men and first appeared back in 1963. At that time, he was human looking but had enlarged hands and feet. Beast left the X-Men to become a research scientist. Part of his research was isolating the mutant gene. When he has to stop some thieves, he uses the mutagen to disguises himself. Unfortnautally he didn’t get to the antidote in time and remained stuck in the blue, hairy form we are all used to. Afterward, Beast became a member of the Avengers, a Defender, and ends up going back to the X-Men.
I was first introduced to Beast when he an Avengers and I just fell in love with him. So for Hasbro to release a new action figure based on him, I knew I had to get Beast for my collection.
This sculpt is incredible. I love all the bulkiness to it and the texture to simulate Beast’s fur is extremely impressive. The shading all over just really adds to dimension to it.
Beast comes with 2 extra hands. A closed fist and an open palm. They go off and on very easily.
One of the cool things I noticed about this figure, it how well the balance is. If you have a level surface, there are so many cool poses you can put him in.
The only complaint I have with this figure is his face sculpt. It’s not that the sculpt is bad. Beast has a very animalistic look and that’s cool and all. I grew up with the happy-go-lucky Beast. I kind of wish we would have gotten that expression on his face. But what are you going to do? It’s still a solid figure.
Finally, he comes with Caliban’s head for the Build-A-Figure piece.
The great thing about this Beast figure, he can either go in your X-Men collection or your Avengers collection. You better buy 2!
Many thanks to Hasbro for sending us Beast!
You can find Beast at retail stores or you can buy directly from Hasbro Pulse.
